These are the main objectives of a company dedicated to the production of outdoor boots. Over the last twenty years, giant steps forward have been made in this field, with the introduction of sophisticated membranes that are capable of guaranteeing complete reliability of the product in any condition. In order to test the insulation properties, the waterproofness and breathability, the boot undergoes rigid laboratory testing which reproduces the various extreme climatic variations; the AKU boot is a concentration of technological components, enhancing the lightweight properties, thus reducing tiredness after long usage and the micro climate inside the shoe allows for the foot to stay comfortable for many hours.

AKU AIR 8000® EXCLUSIVE TECHNOLOGY

This is the first technology for upper construction which AKU developed and patented as early as 1991 to increase the breathability of mountain footwear. Laboratory tests confirm that an upper made with the exclusive AKU AIR 8000® system offers up to 11.5 times greater breathability than normal standards identified by GORE-TEX®. Twenty years down the line, the AKU AIR 8000® system is still one of the most cutting-edge technologies which delivers outstanding breathability in mountain boots.

GORE-TEX® EXTENDED COMFORT
FOR DESERT OPERATIONS AND OTHER WARM CLIMATE SCENARIOS

What environmental challenges are likely to be encountered in desert operations? Needless to say, heat, sand and dust. However, if that were all, boot without a functional membrane would be perfectly adequate combat boots with ventilation holes and mesh textile panels in the upper are primarily designed for a maximum breathability. However, they allow sand to get inside the boot where it rubs on the wearer's foot, causing injuries such as blisters and other skin damage. This can also impair the soldier's ability to focus and concentrate. Desert regions environments call for combat boots that incorporate extreme breathability, outstanding heat loss properties and durable protection. All GORE-TEX® Desert Boots have been specifically designed to meet these challenges.
This means that the wearer's feet are durably protected from water, problematic liquids and sand, while sweat occurring inside the boot can escape even faster.


DURABLY WATERPROOF, HIGHLY BREATHABLE AND EXCEPTIONALLY DURABLE

IMS - INTERNAL MIDSOLE SYSTEM

Is an exclusive technology used in the construction of the AKU insole board. It couples the traditional support structure in nylon with a layer of microporous material.
This system, which allows for the sole to perfectly capture the anatomy of the foot, ensures a uniform distribution of pressure, prevents from lateral and frontal slipping under heavy use, and provides shock absorption for an excellent wearing comfort.

ELICA - NATURAL STRIDE SYSTEM

ELICA is an integrated system consisting of LAST - INSOLE BOARD - MIDSOLE - OUTSOLE which faithfully follows the anatomical shape of the sole of the foot and adapts to normal heel and forefoot inclination to reduce impact and strain.
Laboratory tests certify that footwear with Elica, compared to traditional footwear, 
guarantees a more even distribution of foot pressure.

The tests highlight: 
  • a more even distribution of pressure during the entire stance phase
  • a more central load at mid stance
  • better arch support during midstance and lower pressure during the toe-off phase.

GORE-TEX® SURROUND TECHNOLOGY

Shoes engineered with GORE-TEX® SURROUND™ product technology are designed for outdoor use in moderate to warmer conditions.
They offer enduring waterproof protection and optimum breathability all around the foot. Moisture and warmth also escape through the GORE-TEX®
membrane into the open structure of the “spacer” - and from there out of the shoe via side ventilation outlets. the result is faster sweat removal rate, keeping your feet dry and comfortable even at higher temperatures.

VIBRAM® OUTSOLES

The outsole is all-important for safety in technical footwear. AKU has always worked closely with Vibram® - the world’s foremost manufacturer of soles for outdoor footwear – in designing and manufacturing outsoles to meet every category of user’s request for reliability and precision.
AKU outsoles are designed together with Vibram®, for both the specific design and shape of the outsole, as well as for the composition of the rubber with which it is made. The outsole is also designed with thought for the specific needs and the different end use of the shoes.
